Several of our patients tell us that people think they look mad or even sad when they are not smiling. This is because they have a worn down or collapsed bite and as a result the corners of their mouth are starting to turn down. You will notice that when an older person talks they show mostly lower teeth. As gravity is pulling your soft tissue south your teeth are wearing down and moving north. The net result is that the upper teeth disappear when you are talking and you look older. Dr Muslin can predictably rebuild your bite by idealizing the length of the teeth for a much younger and refreshed appearance.
Notice in the before photo above that very little of her upper teeth are visible. This effect is making her look older because as we age our teeth naturally shorten every year from grinding and wear. To capture a more youthful essence the presence of the upper teeth must be restored.

Deep Overbites or a Weak Chin
Deep overbites and bite interferences can be eliminated so that you look younger and chew better. People who suffer with overbites frequently feel that they have a weak chin or that their face is too round. When upper teeth fit over and in front of lower teeth your jaw is shoved back and your face is short and round. With the lower jaw shoved too far back people experience trouble chewing, jaw discomfort, facial pain, and even headaches which are directly related to the overbite. Underbites and narrow palettes can also be corrected non-surgically with Face Lift Dentistry ®. Only after the patient is totally confident and approves the look is anything bonded permanently.
